I’ve come to find that weekly status updates are difficult, and it’s only my third (fourth?) one. There’s not much to because there isn’t much of a change. I have my head down, continuing to edit.

I’ve made a lot of progress this past week. As I sit writing this, I only have 35 more videos from the launch content to finish editing. I think when I wrote the last one I was somewhere around 90. I’ve made a good dent.

The next biggest step is making thumbnails. I have the design concept down. There will be a picture of the move clearly showing what it is. The text will have a shape behind it denoting a technique, solo drill, etc. For the techniques, it will be color coded, with a symbol in the corner. Submissions are a chain. Escapes are a broken chain. Takedowns are down arms. Simple.

The problem is my design sensibilities are stuck as 2003 powerpoint. I’m working on trying to get some help nailed down to add some shaders or whatever (I don’t have the words for this kind of thing) to modernize it a little. Or hopefully make it look timeless/generic.

Then all the videos need to be QA’d. One day, when I’m not editing everything, I will likely be the person double checking each video. For now, it’s going to be my wife (she’s a purple belt). She agreed to do it when I asked her months ago. I’m sure she remembers and is totally fine with it.

Once the launch videos are done, it’s time to build the alpha for the website. I almost can’t believe it. Seven years. It’s been seven years that this has been living in my head. Haunting me. When I think about it, how close I am to it be real, I almost can’t believe it.

Soon, you will get to see it, too.
